Isn't this just typical. Politcal statements made by cartoonists and others like Salman Rushdie become targets to be placed on the Islamic Hit List.

Muslim cleric Omar Bakri Mohammed, banned from Britain for his radical views, has called for capital punishment for cartoonists who dare depict the Prophet Muhammad...

"In Islam, God said, and the messenger Muhammad said, whoever insults a prophet, he must be punished and executed," he added.

"This man (the cartoonist) should be put on trial and ... executed if proven guilty."

In an apparent reference to Denmark, where the government has defended the cartoons on freedom-of-speech grounds, Bakri also said that if nations fail to put people on trial for insulting Muhammad, they must "face the consequences"...

On Monday he tempered his remarks by saying that Muslims must not kill anyone who insulted the founder of their faith "by their own personal, individual initiative".
"We are not saying ourselves to go there and start to look to him and kill him, we are not talking about that. We are talking about Islamic rules. If anybody insults the prophet, he will have to take a punishment," he said.

The moderates of Islam would instruct us that that radical side is just a few and tell us not to worry and they will pray that things will get better. WE NEED ACTION. In the north western Pakistani city of Peshawar, cleric Maulana Yousef Qureshi said he had personally offered to pay a bounty of 500,000 rupees ($8400) to anyone who killed a Danish cartoonist, and two of his congregation put up additional rewards of $1 million and one million rupees plus a car.

The cleric leads the congregation at the historic Mohabat mosque, on street known for goldsmith shops in the provincial capital of North West Frontier Province - a stronghold of Pakistan's Islamist opposition parties.

Huge difference. Osama bin Laden and Zawahri are responsible for killing thousands of innocent lives. A cartoonist made a political reference about a religion that is linked with terrorism. Jesus represents Catholics, Muhammad represents Islam. It is an indentifiable character.

In Pakistan, Mohammed Yousaf Qureshi announced the bounty for killing a cartoonist to about 1,000 people outside the historic Mohabat Khan mosque in the northwestern city of Peshawar.

He said the mosque and the religious school he leads would give a $25,000 reward and a car for killing the cartoonist who drew the caricatures — considered blasphemous by Muslims. He said a local jewelers' association would also give $1 million, but no representative of the association was available to confirm the offer.

"Whoever has done this despicable and shameful act, he has challenged the honor of Muslims. Whoever will kill this cursed man, he will get $1 million dollars from the association of the jewelers bazaar, one million rupees ($16,700) from Masjid Mohabat Khan and 500,000 rupees ($8,350) and a car from Jamia Ashrafia as a reward," Qureshi said.

"This is a unanimous decision of by all imams of Islam that whoever insults the prophets deserves to be killed and whoever will take this insulting man to his end, will get this prize," he said.
